Oil Power Transformers In Ireland

At GBE Engineering, we supply high-performance oil transformers in Ireland up to 50 MVA with voltages reaching 145 kV (BIL650), available with off-circuit or on-load tap changers.

The on-load tap changer can be either external or internal to the transformer tank.

Oil Power Transformer Design

The oil power transformers are made according to construction and design criteria to ensure the highest operational reliability and great performance under electrodynamic stress, as well as excellent isolation to avoid problems related to possible network overvoltages.

Magnetic Core Construction

The magnetic core is made for high-permeability 45-degree cut steel sheets in the European or American step lap type.

The pack tighteners of the magnetic sheets are sized appropriately to ensure mechanical sealing, noise reduction, and to prevent any problems related to the handling or stresses of the windings.

MV & HV Windings

The MV and HV windings are made of a disc or with transposed cable conductors. They are made with horizontal or vertical winding machines by experienced staff in a controlled environment.

The positioning of the coils and the gap between them and between the layers is performed according to the precise indications of the electrical design, as well as the type of conductor and its processing

Drying & Pressing Of Windings

The drying and pressing process of the windings prior to assembly is fundamental and is carried out in a furnace with dry air circulation, monitored and recorded temperatures.

The power transformer can have two or more windings and is fitted with a compensation winding.

• Core is made with grain-oriented magnetic laminations cut at 45° and assembled with the step lap method.
• Voltage class up to 145 kV (BIL 650)
• Windings are Aluminium or are made mainly of electrolytic copper, with pure cellulose paper conductor insulation.
• Tanks are made of high-strength sheet steel on which oil cooling radiators are mounted.
• Cooling: ONAN, ONAF, KNAN or OFWF
• Oil types are Mineral, mineral 7131, vegetable, or Silicone. Filled with PCB-free oil that has been dried and degassed, and complies with IEC standards.
• Switching: no-load or on-load (OLTC)
• Ambient temperature from -60°C to +60°C
